We all know that one of the main reasons healthcare is so expensive is the cost of running Emergency Rooms and Trauma Centers fully staffed and ready for any emergency, 24 hours a day.
Here is an interesting article about the top 10 reasons people visit Emergency Rooms: from MSN.com.
Many of these issues could easily be taken care of at an Urgent Care center instead, still fully staffed and many running 24 hours a day. If your insurance requires you to get prior authorization before going, just call their emergency number and get an authorization code. If your insurance does not require this, then you can go to any urgent care center.
Something to think about the next time you have something that can't wait for the morning. Do you really need an expensive emergency room visit, or can you go to a smaller, but equally staffed urgent care center instead?
Help keep costs down.
